Theatre

Laxmana Dalmia is associated actively with Indian Peoples Theatre Association- IPTA as its Treasurer.

My love for histrionics and dramatics in real life and reel life found a medium in IPTA in 1978. Initiated into this group by its General Secretary Aziz Quraishi, I was fascinated by its long and dynamic history. So much had been done through the ages and yet, I realized there was scope to do much-much more! Sadly, everything I wanted to do had to be backstage. I turned out to be a dismal actor!! However, my true métier was and is in writing concepts and scripts which found a readymade platform in IPTA.

An apolitical, patriotic, cultural group IPTA-DELHI is dedicated to meaningful and socially relevant theatre. IPTA-Delhi, during the 50 years of its existence has done more than 100 full-fledged plays with around 3000 shows all over India. In its crusade to promote and popularize theatre all our shows have always been an open house with no tickets and no government grants or aid. IPTA-Delhi is the only cultural group in the country which has done free shows since its inception 50 years ago.

The aim has been and is, to spread awareness and inspiration so that people stand up to fight against injustice of any kind.

For more than five decades, we have been targeting and raising our voice against the exploitation of economically and socially weaker sections of society and strengthening the fabric of Secularism and Nationalism in India through theatre, dance, musicals, choir group evenings, street performances, painting exhibitions and other cultural activities.

IPTA is not just a cultural group, it is a National Movement.

Upcoming Plays

A play titled “TUM BHI SHIV HO”. It’s an interactive play which is an opportunity for all, irrespective of religion, caste or creed, to pass through the mystical gateway and unveil some of the lost wisdom of Shiv. To know how to make into reality the stuff of magic and myth; where we learn how to bridge the gap between the known and the unknown.

Components of the project

  • A published book of the play.
  • A unique set of tarot card set on Shiv with a book. Created by me. To be launched with the play.
  • An oil especially developed to help open your Third Eye, in the tarot pack.
  • Exhibition of the paintings of the 78 cards.
  • Workshops on Shiv Tarot—designed to help you read the cards for yourself and others.
